What data we may collect and why

Our policy is to collect the absolute minimum of information required to enable us to function, and, to use the information provided, solely for the purpose for which it is provided, unless otherwise required by law.

Information collected from IFMMA members.

All IFMMA members provide two classes of information:

a) Public domain information.
Members provide public domain information specifically for publication in the IFMMA Members’ directory and for display on the IFMMA website. This information is a form of advertising and is not considered private. The IFMMA accepts no responsibility for the content or accuracy of the information which is displayed on our website or printed in our directory.

b) Private information.
Each member is required to assign a contact person to whom association communications should be directed. This is a totally personal contact list between the members and the IFMMA. Its’ content is limited to the necessary details to enable the communication to take place.

Information collected from non-members

Commercial information, for the purpose of conducting the affairs of the association:
This data is for business-to-business activities. The information on this database is restricted to the association’s administration for use as needed in the IFMMA’s business activities. It is treated as “commercial in confidence”.

Information collected from all visitors

When you access the IFMMA website, we collect certain information by automated means. This information may include without limitation as follows:

a) Technical Information
Technical Information about your computer or Wireless Device, such as Your IP address, device type, operating system type and version, unique device ID, browser, browser language, domain and other systems information, platform types (collectively, “Technical Information”).

b) Usage Data
Usage statistics about your interaction with the IFMMA website, including pages accessed, time spent on pages, pages visited, search queries, click data, date and time, and other information regarding your use of the IFMMA website (collectively, “Usage Data”).

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Visitor comments also may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

When you are filling in the contact form with your data, you would authorizing us to use these details to reply to your requests for information, quotes or any other kind of requests as indicated by the form’s header.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Who we share your data with

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
